Vacuum Forming
A thermoplastic sheet is heated
and formed over or into a tool using a vacuum. The
result is a plastic part with developed radii and shapes
that conform to the mold. Tooling is cost effective
and tool changes can be made with minimal effort.
Pressure Forming
This method uses a female tool.
The thermoplastic sheet is heated and air pressure is used
to create a part with a sharp radii and greater definition.
The results with pressure forming is a part with the
appearance of injection molding at the fraction of the
tooling cost.
Twin-sheet Forming
Twin sheet forming is two sheets
of material formed in two tools simultaneously fused
together.
This process gives a part more
structure and stability with the appearance of a blow molded
part but with more material choices.
